Looking for cheap yacht rental in Abu Dhabi? The good news is that a private trip on the water costs less than many people think – especially when you understand how prices work and choose the boat that fits your group. In this guide we explain the pricing, show real numbers from our fleet and share simple ways to get more from every dirham.
All prices below are from our own boats and prices page. They are per hour for the whole boat, not per person, and every boat has a 2-hour minimum.
How Boat and Yacht Prices Work
Most people search for a yacht and then ask “how much per person?”. With private rental, that is the wrong question. You pay for the boat, not for each seat. The boat is yours for the hours you book, with nobody else on board except your group and, on most boats, the captain and crew.
That means two things. One: a small boat for a small group can be very affordable. Two: the price per person drops quickly as your group gets bigger. A boat that looks expensive per hour can turn out to be the cheapest option per guest once you fill it.
What a Trip Really Costs
Here is what a 2-hour trip – the minimum booking – costs on a few of our boats, and what it works out to per person when the boat is full:
| Boat | Type | Guests | 2 hours | Per person (full) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo Skipper | Self-drive | Up to 4 | AED 600 | AED 150 |
| Wave Rider | Speed boat | Up to 8 | AED 800 | AED 100 |
| Sand Dollar | Yacht | Up to 8 | AED 900 | AED 113 |
| Floating Villa | Houseboat | Up to 15 | AED 1,000 | AED 67 |
| Dune Houseboat | Houseboat | Up to 20 | AED 1,500 | AED 75 |
| Tide Cruiser | Yacht | Up to 20 | AED 1,998 | AED 100 |
Look at the last column. The lowest hourly price is the self-drive Solo Skipper at AED 300, but per person the Floating Villa and the Dune Houseboat come out cheaper because they hold far more guests. If you have a big group, a houseboat is often the cheapest way to go.
Cheap Yacht Rental Abu Dhabi: Ten Ways to Get More for Your Budget
1. Start with your group size
Count everyone, children included. A boat that is too small will not work, and a boat that is far too big means you pay for empty space. Our Yacht Finder shows the boats that fit your whole group in one tap.
2. Set a budget per hour, not per trip
Decide what you are happy to spend per hour, then multiply by the hours. The finder lets you filter by under AED 500, AED 500–750 or over AED 750, so you see just the boats in your range.
3. Book the minimum, then decide
Every boat has a 2-hour minimum, and for many plans 2 hours is plenty: enough time to cruise the coast, take photos and relax. If you are not sure, start with 2 hours and add more when your plan needs it.
4. Fill the boat
Because the price is for the whole boat, inviting two or three more friends costs you nothing extra – it simply lowers everyone’s share. Ten guests on the Falcon 40 pay about AED 130 each for 2 hours.
5. Drive it yourself
For couples and groups of up to 4, the self-drive Solo Skipper is the lowest price in our fleet at AED 300 per hour. No boating licence is needed, and our team gives you a safety briefing and a short training session before you set off. Read more in our self-drive boat guide.
6. Choose a speed boat for small groups
If you want a captain but have a small group, the Wave Rider speed boat takes up to 8 guests for AED 400 per hour – the lowest price for a boat with a captain.
7. Compare yachts at the same price
Two boats in our fleet cost AED 450 per hour for 8 guests: the Sand Dollar, a sport yacht with a cabin lounge, and the Reef Runner 34, a 34 ft boat popular for fishing. Same price, very different trips – pick the one that suits your plan.
8. Use a houseboat for big groups
Houseboats give you lounges, rooftop decks and shade, and they hold 12 to 20 guests. For families and parties they are usually the cheapest option per person. See them side by side on our houseboats page.
9. Split the payment
You can pay by card, with Tamara, or split the cost into 4 payments with Tabby. On the Wave Rider, a 2-hour trip becomes 4 payments of AED 200. The budget calculator on our boats and prices page shows the Tabby amount for every boat and every length of trip.
10. Know what is included
Every booking already includes soft drinks, water and speakers, and every boat except the self-drive boat comes with a captain and crew. When you compare prices, compare what you actually get – there is no need to pay extra for these basics.
Cheap Does Not Mean Basic
A lower price does not have to mean a worse day. A small boat for a small group gives you the same private time on the water as a big yacht – just with less space you would not use anyway. And a houseboat shared by a large group can feel like a party venue at a fraction of the cost per person.
The key is matching the boat to your group and your plan. Want speed and fun? Choose a speed boat. Want a lounge and a cake? Choose a houseboat. Want to steer yourself? Choose the self-drive boat.
A Quick Example
Say you are 12 friends planning a birthday on a 3-hour trip. The Floating Villa takes 15 guests at AED 500 per hour, so 3 hours cost AED 1,500 – about AED 125 each – with an indoor lounge, a rooftop deck, a captain and crew. Split with Tabby, that is 4 payments of AED 375.
If the same 12 friends wanted a classic yacht instead, the Tide Cruiser would cost AED 2,997 for 3 hours, about AED 250 each. Both are good trips; the difference is what you want from the day.
